About

Photographer | Geekette | Trainer

Photo of Rebecca Benoit holding a cameraI am passionate about a lot of things – people, technology, photography, having fun, learning, leaving a legacy…

Hence, Pixelegacy – a merging of all of these passions that enables me to bring a joy to my work ā€“ a joy that shows in the results, and the relationships Iā€™m thrilled to have built with hundreds of clients over the years.

Iā€™d love to help you with your photography by helping you take better photos or learn how to spruce them up in Lightroom and share them with friends and family or clients.  Just give me a call.

  • Assistant Organizer for Portland/Vancouver Photography (retired) and Women Learning Photography Together Meetup groups, Commissioner Beaverton Arts Commission

What I teach:

Photography (including cell phones!), Lightroom, e-newsletters, slide shows, social media basics

Who I teach:

Passionate photographers of all ability levels, on Macs or PCs

How I teach:

  • I teach in 1:1 in-person, in classes or workshops in the greater Portland OR area, online anywhere in the world
  • I am also developing eCourses – stay tuned via my enewsletter!
  • I provide free videos on my Vimeo channel

I’m known for my patience, broad knowledge, empathy and ability to simplify complex concepts and tie them all together into something relevant to your needs. I’m also told that I make it fun!

I’m honored that many clients have become good friends.

My own training:

Although I’ve taken many classes and workshops, mostly I’m a stubborn, self taught, passionate geekette/photographer who soaks up as much as I can from using software, working my own website and newsletter, and (photographically speaking) studying others’ work, exposing myself to critique, shooting, messing with the shots, shooting more.

I think it helps me feel my student’s pain all the more that I’ve figured out so much on my own.

My personal photography:

Award winning print with ribbon

Award winning work

I shoot about anything that doesn’t shoot me back… mostly I like to capture unusual things, or find unusual ways to capture usual things – follow me on Facebook or Instagram or sign up for my Blog or newsletter (upper right screen) to follow along on my work/fun.

My photography has been juried into several shows – I was awarded a Juror’s Choice Award for my Airstream Sunset.

Thanks for checking me out, I hope to hear from you.

Hey Rebecca:  I can’t thank you enough for the 6 days of inspiration.  Both classes were amazing and so incredibly informative.

You have a teaching style that is so easy and welcoming, it was a pleasure to be part of it.

From Karen: Rebecca ~ thank you for such a wonderful class this past weekend. I feel that I have a good grasp on what my camera can do now and am ready to tackle it. You solved many a mystery for me and given me the confidence to shoot better, learn more, and to kick it up a notch šŸ™‚ It was a most informative and wonderful time away for me.

From Ruth: Thank you so much for a wonderful workshop. I appreciated your attention to detail, your carefully thought-out lesson plans and hand-outs, and the balance between classroom instruction and shooting.
